You'll Just Have to Wait

Ok fine. I've finally admitted to myself that I am not going to get ANY blogging done until school starts again. We've been so busy enjoying our summer, and then suddenly getting smacked with a mystery illness, and now preparing for our road trip and camping adventure to Yellowstone! After our return, I will no doubt have many stories and pictures to share. But until then, you'll have to wait. :-)

Where has the time gone?

The last three weeks have blown by! This makes me incredibly sad, as I'm not nearly ready for school to be approaching quite as fast as it is. I love having the boys around and there's so much more I want to do this summer.

I haven't been posting mainly because I'm too busy reading (such a problem to have!). I've discovered that working in a library is a little bit of a problem when it comes to my reading habits. I get greedy and end up with an impossibly large stack of books that I have no chance of completing in the amount of time I have to borrow them. I'm thinking I might have to just admit defeat and give up on some of them. It's just way too easy to search for books during slow moments at the desk and place a hold on them. And you wouldn't believe how many interesting looking books I see when I work the book return! Can you tell that I've gone into the right line of work? :)

There are plenty of pictures to share from the last three weeks, but I'll probably just cram them into a post or two instead of individual posts. Better than nothing, right? I won't stress about it too much for now. My goal is to enjoy the remainder of the summer and then I can blog regularly once both boys are in school all day. But I'm trying not to think about that too much!

Dinosaurs and Submarines

I'm a few weeks behind in documenting our summer activities, so bear with me while I attempt to catch up. In our effort to make the most out of our summer, we kicked things off with a day at OMSI to put our membership to use. We started our visit with a tour of the submarine. As many times as we've been to OMSI, we've never taken the submarine tour before now! It was fun. Smelly, but fun.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures inside (I was too busy listening to the guide and looking around).

The newest exhibit is Dinosaurs Unearthed and it is so very cool. After I went through all of our pictures later, I realized Nathan was making a fake terrified face in every single one of them.

And proving that Nathan and I are cut from the same cloth, we both had the idea to look blissfully unaware of the ferocious dinosaur behind us. 

 After the dinosaur adventure, we roamed around and did all of the normal OMSI things. Of course we had to look at the babies and stuff in Life Science Hall. Aiden took one look at the large outline of the male and female reproductive systems and said, "Oh gosh, let's get away from here. You people are seriously trying to embarrass me." Yep, he's a teenager already.

On our way home, we stopped at one of our favorite Mexican places in Beaverton to get some dinner. Then we headed home, tired and very, very full.

Bedtime Conversations

Sometimes at bedtime, Aiden and I have strange conversations. I tend to forget about most of them rather quickly, but this one was more involved than most. Here's a small snippet of our conversation. I wish I could tell you how we got to this point in the conversation, but I have no idea.

Aiden: Bats are mammals. You could get some bat milk and make some cheese.

Me: But who is going to milk a bat?

Aiden: Someone with a bat breast pump, sneaking into a cave in the middle of the day. Obviously.

Me: Wouldn't that take a long time? I mean, you'd need a LOT of bat milk to make cheese.

Aiden: The pump would need many attachments. You know, to milk multiple bats at once.

Me: But really, I don't think anyone is going to milk a bat to make cheese.

Aiden: Guess we'll just have to milk a platypus then.
