Coolest Scientist

Aiden has been into, well, just about every subject lately. He told his teacher the other day that he was the coolest scientist. And yesterday was insisting that Nathan refer to him as Scientist Aiden.

Today, he told me that he wanted to take an x-ray of me. I went into the boys room and he took my x-ray with the "machine" that he had constructed of a toy soldier bucket, a toy wrench, a First Visit button from Disneyland, and the Woody that was his cake topper for his birthday - all duct taped together. After he took my x-ray, he went out onto the landing where we have their chalk board set up. He drew four different x-ray pictures and then had me come out to look at them. He spent about five minutes going over them with me. Finally he says:

"Oh, I see the problem. You have a scratch on your heart."

I say, "Well, how are you going to fix it?"

He pauses, then says, "Uh, sorry....you'll just need to go home."

I would like a second opinion, please.

The News

Let me begin by telling you about my night last night. I had developed a very bad sore throat and stuffy nose, so I wasn't sleeping very well. Then Aiden woke up at 3am with a croupy cough and I was awake with him until 6:30 this morning. I got another few hours of rough sleep and then had to make my way to the train station to pick up my dad by 11am. I was groggy, sick, and not really in the best shape.

Fast forward to after I picked up my dad and we had gone through Fred Meyer to get stuff for all us sickies in the house (me, John, and Aiden). I was loading the things in the car when I see these two men walking towards us. One in a suit with a microphone and one with a big news camera. I recognized the reporter right away as being from Channel 8 (KGW). Great....just what I wanted.

They did come up to ask my opinion about a sex offender who was moving the neighborhood and all I remember saying was something about how I had two kids and it was concerning, but the rest is a complete blur (thanks cold meds). I don't know how much of my blathering they actually used since I have avoided watching the news this evening. While it's interesting, I don't really want to see my stuffed up, strep throat ridden self on the TV. Apparently some of it was used since we did receive some phone calls asking if I was possibly on television. :^)

I will say that it was fun to meet the reporter (Kyle Iboshi) and that he was VERY nice and very chatty, even after the camera was turned off. It was nice to see that he seemed to just enjoy talking with people, whether it was about the news story or not.

And that was my adventure with the news. Here's the link to the video if you want to see my few seconds of fame:

That Went Fast!

I suddenly realized today that this week has completely zoomed by me. And I've gotten nothing done. I'm still working on laundry from the trip (laundry is my nemesis), I haven't done any more organizing, and I have yet to upload any pictures from the beach trip.

On the other hand, John had his post-graduation review at work yesterday and it went so well, that I am turning in my notice when I go into work tonight. I am giving them three weeks instead of two, since I had told them I would stay through April. Now we get to decide if I will start taking some classes this summer or wait until the fall. There are pros and cons to both ideas, but I will need to decide soon. It will be nice to focus on some other things and not have to worry about working for a while. Way to go, John!

Hello from the Oregon Coast!

We've been having so much fun here at this coast. Even on a windy day!
